1) Target Population/Data
ELL students, WIDA levels
Mariel – Reading:3.2, Writing:3.6
David – Reading:5.0, Writing 2.5
Joanna – Reading: 5.0, Writing: 3.6

2) SMART Goal (Specific/Measurable/Attainable/Realistic/Time Bound)
The ELL students will increase their understanding and use of content specific vocabulary words through the use of a word wall that shows the word and a corresponding picture. The words will be printed on colored index cards according to the color folder of the subject. Students will be able to use these vocabulary words correctly in written sentences done as reflections and /or responses.

3) How does this goal relate to the book/our study of English Language Learners?

As explained on page 20 and 21, the word wall will help ELLs increase word knowledge while reading in the content areas such as social studies, science and math. An achievement rubric (page 90) will be used to provide feedback on informational knowledge as shown in the students’ writing.

4) Content/curriculum areas that I will focus on

I will be focusing on the vocabulary from content areas of Science, Social Studies, and math. The vocabulary will be assessed in the students’ writing.

5) Follow-up (notes/questions/etc)
